The Prophet (s.aw) passed by a woman who was sitting and weeping beside a grave and said to her "Fear Allah and be patient” (Bukhari 2:343)

The pictures here show the land as it was when acquired in 1998 and the landscape development and construction work that took place since then, leading to the opening of the Cemetery in November 2002. Planning permission for using the land as a Cemetery required extensive work to be carried out to:

- install fencing for security purposes
- construct a car park
- put in place a drainage system for the burial areas as well as roads and paths to enable access
- carry out repair work to a stream going through the land, and
- carry out extensive planting around the boundaries to the land to provide privacy

In addition CCTV has been installed and an administration building built so that security, which is of paramount importance, could be put in place to the fullest extent. The administration building also has provision for wudhu facilities.

Some more recent pictures of the Cemetery including the burial areas, taken in June 2006, are shown here.

Shown below is a picture of the standard grave marker that is put on each adult grave, made of high quality marble measuring 300mm*300mm*30mm in thickness. The cost of the marker is included as part of the burial fees and the inscriptions are standard on each marker throughout the whole Cemetery. Smaller grave markers made of the same high quality marble are also placed on graves of children.
