Worried
About Your Funeral?
Many in the Muslim community have been asking
what they can do to take the worry and
uncertainty out of funeral arrangements when a death occurs
in the family.
Making plans in advance will help relieve the burden when
a death takes place. There is little time to organise the
funeral, let alone inform all the family and friends of
the deceased, if the burial is to take place as soon as
possible as required under Sharee’ah.
Close family and friends are spared the burden of organising
a funeral at what will be an emotional time for them.
For these reasons Gardens of Peace have come up with the
idea of a Funeral Plan.
How Does The Funeral
Plan Work?
Under the Funeral Plan you pay in advance the current Burial
Fees charged by the
Cemetery, to cover the cost of burial for a member of your
family or close relative or friend. We will in return provide
a Certificate of Entitlement. This should
be kept in a safe place, with close family and friends
being made aware of its existence.
Burial Fees at the Cemetery are currently £1,200
(January 2006). The Fees are normally revised annually.
What Happens Afterwards?
Once the Burial Fees are paid the cost at the
Cemetery is guaranteed against inflation until 31 December
2010. After this date, we will write to you to
inform you of any increases so that you can keep the money
paid to the Cemetery up to date. In this way you
can continue to make sure that your funeral expenses and
wishes are properly taken care of at all times.
What Is Not Covered?
The above arrangement only covers Burial Fees at the Cemetery.
Any other costs involved are not covered.
Any Other Benefits?
As the Cemetery is in need of funds to repay Qardh Husanah
(interest free) loans, this Funeral Plan will help the Cemetery
to repay these loans sooner. Your participation
in the Funeral Plan will therefore be an act of sadaqah
jarihah (recurring reward).
